Why do Christians send each other Christmas cards instead of sending birthday cards to Jesus?

How does that make sense?

Why do Christians send each other Christmas cards instead of sending birthday cards to Jesus?
I no longer send Christmas cards, or any other cards, except via email. I consider all paper cards a blatant waste of money because most of them are generally tossed in the trash. It is more beneficial to send the money for the cards and accompanying stamps to charity.
Reply:I agree... And why do they give each other gifts? It's not their birthday, it's the Lord's??? This has always puzzled me...
Reply:Well, we spread the birth of Jesus to all our loved ones, and bless them. And we are waiting for the coming of Jesus. So, he is half man, half spirit, so we dont really know when he is coming. DUH!!
Reply:where would they send the cards to??? heaven 333 or hell 666
Reply:We, do that, in the form of prayer. %26lt;}:-})
Reply:birthday cards? r u serious?? who are you going to sent it to? heaven??
Reply:How about yourself? And where do you mail it to?
Reply:Because Christmas is not Christ's "birthday", it is our celebration of the Incarnation. We rejoice together in the unfolding of the process that climaxes at Holy Pascha.
Reply:Do you have Jesuss address or email? lol

I think it's just a way of keeping the spirit, and to say hi to those you don;t see often.

Another Q? Why do we give and get gifts on his birthday?
Reply:They don't have Jesus' address to smother him with cards.

And they still don't know when he was born, so it's moot. (Would he really like cards on Ra's birthday?)
Reply:Jesus was a gift to us, not to himself because he is selfless.
Reply:well the mail delivery in heaven is a little slow, but we do pray and it arrives instantly..
Reply:Well we reseve that holiday and worship him.

But when was the last time you checked ont he phone book and saw his address?

interesting we lift him up in praise instead of sending him a useless paper card.
Reply:Give me his address and i'll send him one....
Reply:Cuz, he moved and no one has the address and if everyone sends out a card maybe they will find him.
Reply:How exactly would you suggest sending a card to heaven???
Reply:How would one send a birthday card to Jesus?
Reply:I didnt realize Jesus had an address to send a card to.

If this is suppose to be a bash on christians celebrating christmas it is really really reaching and pretty lame.

Maybe if you didnt ask question purposelly trying to bash on other people it would be a little more funny. There is nothing humorous about this question. If you were attempting to be then you failed miserably.
Reply:lol that's a funny question
Reply:They pray.

Jesus doesn't have an address anyway?
Reply:???????????????????

and i am a Christian

ask you self
Reply:Since when was it just christians?
Reply:Jesus isn't accepting mail right now, in fact the last time I called his secretary said his people would call my people and we'd do lunch. That was 15 years ago. Also Ahura Mazda, Buddha, and not one of the stinking 96,000 gods of Hinduism has answered so much as a freaking email. You believe that? oh yeah, happy early winter solstice
Reply:How would you send a birthday card to Jesus?
Reply:Obviously, you don't believe in Christmas since you asked a silly questions like this. That's like saying, "I'm sending a St. Patty's Day card to a leprechaun instead of to my loved one".

Not that you really NEED an explaination but I'll give you one anyway - The reason we send Christmas cards to each other is because we want to wish our friends/family a Happy Christmas.
Reply:So... what's the address to send Jesus some bday cards?
Reply:I don't know His address.
Reply:Christmas is about giving....so give cards to show people that we care, although its something you can do all through the year. A card is just a token of love, and warmth. We dont send them to Jesus because HE wants our praise and worship not card. We praise Him with the fruit of our lips not with someone elses words on a card.
Reply:when i was little i remember going to sunday school and on christmas we sang happy birthday to jesus and ate b-day cake.
Reply:how would the send birthday cards to jesus.
Reply:lol that is sooo funny. i answered anothe question you answered and laughed at you and pitied you for being so ignorent and now you are helping me prove it.

Does anyone know where to find a Harley Davidson birthday card?

I am looking for a Harley Davidson birthday card, I am not sure where to check. I tried Hallmark, but no luck. I live in a very rural area so and suggestions would be very appreciated. Thank you!

Does anyone know where to find a Harley Davidson birthday card?
They have them at my local Harley Store.
Reply:Just get a regular birthday card and dab some used motor oil on it here and there. And make sure it's a really ugly, glitzy, bling-bling looking kind of card with chrome-looking accents, oh and it should cost 4 times as much as the other cards that look better and get the message across much better.
Reply:At you local H-D retailer or any gift shop..
Reply:Yes Go to Ebay, yes Ebay and type in harley davidson and a site will come up where you can purchase assorted cards from them. I hope this helps. My Mans a Harley man also ;)
Reply:Go to yahoo greetings and type in Harley under search. You will find several hd e-cards to choose from.
Reply:Harley dealers usually stock them. Would have said Hallmark as I've seen them around, but you have tried that.
Reply:The best place would be Harley, of course! Around here Hallmark carries them. If you have the time try online. Good Luck!
Reply:a harleydealer should help you or get something close enough to fashion a birthday card from it to custom make a card.
Reply:If you are in a rural area then there probably isn't a Harley shop around either. Have you tried E-bay? Maybe you could try the Harley website. Sometime you can find them at places like Walmart or Target...but whose to say whether they will be in stock or not. Good Luck!

At the Harley website...you can click on accessories or punch in your zip code. Good Luck
Reply:just go to your local harley dealer

How do I arrange for the White House to send a card to someone celebrating a milestone birthday?

I didn't realize I had limited space before. Someone I know is reaching their 90th birthday and I would like to know how to have them receive a birthday card from the White House.

How do I arrange for the White House to send a card to someone celebrating a milestone birthday?
The person receving the card must be at least 80, so this would be the perfect occasion.

According to the website below, you can submit the request via fax or mail to the Greetings Office of Presidential Correspondence.

Fax: 202-395-1232

Mail:

The White House

Attn: Greetings Office

Washington, DC 20502-0039

Include the name and address of the honoree (with their name exactly as they would like to be addressed, including Mr., Dr., etc.), and their birth date (including year). In order for the card to arrive on time, send the request 6 weeks before their birthday.

The site also has information on receiving cards for anniversarys (50 and higher), weddings, births, and other special occasions.
Reply:Contact the White House a certain period of time before the birthday (I think it's two weeks). Or call your local member of Congress. He (or she) will guide you through the procedure.

How can I get a photo made into a birthday card?

I have a picture that is about ten years old and I would love to make it a birthday card for fun for my friend, can any store do that?

How can I get a photo made into a birthday card?
Any Hallmark store or any store that developes film offers this service
Reply:Almost any printing shop could help you out, and even Walmart, Rite-Aid, or CVS photodeveloping and printing centers have things like this that you could use.

Also, if you have a scanner and some image software, you could make your own! Its always nice to add a personal touch. =] Good Luck
Reply:walgreens and cvs does it. most places that develop pictures will do it really cheap...at least where i live idk about any place else. but ive seen ads for them on the counters. even if its not one of the pics they developed theyll still make it into a card. ask them if you dont see any ads. hope i helped. good luck finding a place
Reply:I would try Office Depot or stAPLES

The old image must be scanned and color corrected then sized for the card... typically 4x6 format.

I can do it for you if you trust.... or you can go to the above and have them scan it and correct it
Reply:get photo shop or even ms paint and you can make your own card its easy!

but i think office max has a section in the back that does this, they make everything, books, calanders, banners, etc.

im sure they can make a card for you

How much would it cost to mail a birthday card to England from the United States?

The USPS website is freaking confusing. Please help? Just a simple birthday/Christmas card... how much would it cost?

How much would it cost to mail a birthday card to England from the United States?
Great question because I just checked this at the post office to send a Christmas card.

International First Class Airmail (probably 4-5 days):

1 ounce and under (a typical card) is 90 cents

2 ounces and under (a big card) is $1.80

You can buy 90 cent stamps at the Post Office, or just use three 41 cent stamps. You'll be overpaying by 33 cents, but you won't have to wait in line :)))

Also the envelope should be just a regular rectangular envelope like what comes with most greeting cards. No square or other strange shapes.
Reply:Go to the web site and hit the "calculate postage" button. Then put in the size of the package, ex. envelope. Enter the zip code that you're sending it from and the area to where you're mailing it to. Good luck.
Reply:I think it's going to cost you about 90 cents to send a standard card to England from the US. If your card is square (or other odd size), they charge more (double usually), so keep that in mind.

Usually I went to the post office to have them put the postage on, rather than guess at putting regular stamps on myself. That way you're sure!

Hope that helped you!

Is it appropriate to give a religious-themed birthday card to a recipient of another faith?

My grandmother always sends me religious-themed birthday cards, knowing that I am of a different faith than she is. I appreciate her thoughtfulness but am hurt by her obvious disregard for me and my choices.

I can't talk to her about it because she's very manipulative and blow everything out of proportion, make me feel extremely guilty and then go tell the rest of the extended family (700+ people) about it.

I am considering "accidentally" sending her a religious greeting card (for people of my religion) for her birthday, but feel this may start a quarrel. Is there proper etiquette for this situation and if so, what is it?

Is it appropriate to give a religious-themed birthday card to a recipient of another faith?
Proper etiquette...In this situation you really need to take a good look at things, and view the conditions from as many perspectives as possible. You must carefully consider the possible outcomes. You should respect her beliefs, whether she chooses to respect yours or not. Love and respect her for who she is as a person, irrespective of her faith. By sending her a religious greeting card for the people of your religion would only result in your stooping down to her level. Be the mature adult here, and don't let her disregard bother you, and just be accepting and respectful of her beliefs, whether you agree with those beliefs or not.

You're absolutely right, this should not be a matter of religeous differences, but a matter of etiquette, or, moreover, religous etiquette.

Is it possible for you and your husband to calmly speak with your grandmother about these differences, and tell her you feel hurt by her unacceptance? You're her grandchild after all, should she not accept you for who you are, irrespective of your beliefs?

As long as you are comfortable with who you are, strongly believe in what you believe, and accept your grandmother for who she is, there's no reason her improper etiquette should bother you. I realize this is easier said than done.

I wish you well in this, and I believe that talking things out with your grandmother would be the best way to go, or possibly writing her a letter. Be kind and genuine, but realize when you do need to put your foot down.

Good luck,

Sincerely,

Kiara

Reply:Grandmother obviously has issues; don't make them yours. If you do, it's a win (for her)/lose (for you) situation.
Reply:See, this is a very difficult issue. I've been in this situation many times myself. But you should remember that no matter what, you can never change the world or its inhabitants. I understan how this may have offended you, as it would have offended me as well. The problem is that religion is the biggest quarrel of the world. People will never agree to the differences. But sometimes, the best thing to do is to just accept who someone is, and just move on. Its a hard thing to do, but it will save A LOT of struggle in the future!
Reply:Just accept it as it was intended. If she didn't love you, you wouldn't be getting any cards. She is sending you a card based on HER faith. If you were of a faith that didn't believe in ostracized God, would you expect her to send you a card of that faith. One thing I've noticed from years in the corporate world is that companies have been taking on this air of 'political correctness' and now everyone is afraid of offending everyone else. Political correctness has people doing their best not to offend anyone but yet I get offended when I'm told that I can't send out Christmas cards but they have to be Holiday cards. If everyone were politically correct they would understand that I am sending based on my faith. Accept the card as it was intended.
Reply:She is your grandmother, right? Out of respect for her and yourself, just throw it away. Does your religion encourage respect, tolerance, love, and patience? You may have to practice more than she does.
Reply:It basically is cross culture.I mean why is it that we will always

say "Merry Christmas" or have Christmas commercials on TV.

Its like that.People really do not consider Christmas a religious

fest anymore but a cultural festival.Afte all its your grandmother

so im sue she will understand. If there was another person maybe

an Athiest who got that card I would start to worry. If it really

has some meaningfull quote from a religious text like "and god

said let there be light" I don't thnk its really that harmfull I mean

heck we have light and god is said to create everything in the Universe no matter what faith.Maybe if it was rather not a philisophical quote that is not harmful to whatever religion like the given example I would worry.Like if it sent a message saying

"Allha a Akbar" (Allah is great) then I think it may be somewhat

offensive or if it sends a message that praises your religion or

sondemns your grandma's or praises your lord alone. It all really

depends on if it is philisophical and has a harmless view point like Christmas holiday in which you can never find a hint of religion unless studied. But again remember she is family.Unless

you are used to her starting issues I would be afraid. If

she is generally nice then your good.If I had just a little more info like how nice or mean your grandmother is or your faith I could answer better.
Reply:Send her an atheist birthday card, if there is such a thing. It might get the point through her apparently thick skull.

Non-religious cards are very appropriate for what is called the holiday season in this country. Did you notice how excited the Christians all got when stores began to use "Happy Holidays" last year instead of Merry Christmas? Such arrogance - and insecurity - to presume that one particular religion has a lock on the Winter Solstice, which is where Christmas got its start.

A solstice card applies to everyone on earth, allowing the recipients to interpret it as they will and giving offense only to the most intolerant among us. Something to think about.
Reply:I understand where your going here, but my thoughts are simple. Religion to me strickly represents a place in which you go to worship. What you believe is the important issue. Do you and the gparent believe the same facts? There are alot of religous cards out there that don't specifically name a certain religion, those are perfect cards for even unbelievers of all kinds. You want to send something that you yourself would enjoy receiving. Thats how I do my cards as well as gifts. Good Luck..
Reply:no, idon't think so
Reply:I understand how you feel. My family (mother's side) was trying to convert me into a chirstian when i was 14. When i said i was not ready, they told me i was not part of the family (during a family dinner), that i was a slut and a prostitute if i did not convert. My mother said i was not her daughter and she dragged me to the church to be baptised and confirmed even though i had a continuos high fever which she ignored my health and blamed it on the devil. How sweet.
Reply:leave your gran. alone about it,smile respect your elders.

her card is a reflection of her beliefs.right? remember that she will pass b4 you.let her b happy. I promise it will come back 2 you many times over.
Reply:Many religions teach us to treat others as we would wish to be treated, and to refrain from treating others as we would NOT wish to be treated. If this is true of your beliefs, then it would be wrong by your own faith to send your grandmother such a card. Instead, be glad that she has thought to remember you on your birthday, and be happy that her good wishes are with you, however she chooses to express them.
Reply:hmmm.. well its never nice to have revenge. but, I would send a card of your belief. Or, maybe you should just let yourself cool down a bit, let your grandma give you all the religous cards she wants to and don't take offense at it, just simply let her. it may annoy you, but what is more important, your grandma or some issue over cards? I think that one or three religous cards a year won't be too bad. try to talk to her and see how she feels, and then tell her how you feel, try to talk about it calmly without offense.
Reply:All in all, its your family...don't let her get to you because it could be alot worse then you just getting a card from her! Don't send the card because you obviously know her well enough that it may get out of hand and that's the last thing you need. I think you are answering your own question but feel like just getting back at her.
Reply:Hey- you are right. it is insensitive and improper to send a religious card to someone of another faith.

That being said- hello! its your grandma! grandparents can be crazy! they are from a different generation and are set in their ways! she is not going to stop trying to "save you". so just deal with it.

seriously. just be gracious. i can't believe you are considering "getting back at" your grandma! thats wrong on so many levels.

besides, its not like she has to send you anything. you should be grateful to have a grandma that cares about you and focus your attention on more important things.
Reply:I know how you feel--I'm buddhist, and ALL of my co-workers and friends insist on getting me religious themed cards... I would send her a card from your faith, but don't make it seem negative or snyde. as long as you send it with good intentions, then there is no reason for it to cause trouble.
Reply:Let your dear ol' Gran do what she does...she's old fashioned and doesn't understand your choice to change your beliefs. In her mind, you are what you are, and you don't go changin' it. I wouldn't start a quarrel with her. Just accept it, and be glad she sends you birthday wishes!
Reply:i don't believe there's anything wrong with it. send her back a card and let her do the same. i mean, if it says god bless or something, that's no big deal. if it says

allah al akbar(i just know i butchered that, sorry!) again, there really isn't a problem. it's just someone trying to be nice. even a nice old yahweh(sorry again) bless you on your day of birth is fine. i'm not certain it's a disregard-she believes in it, and if she believes it, then her god is obviously just saying, have a happy birthday! and with most religions, people believe that others without that faith won't be going to the...nice places. it's too bad it offends you, but i'm sure she just wants to reach you...however, i'm sure if you told her, she'd just pick up a plain happy birthday card. of course, that won't stop her from writing something like god bless you in it, because her religion is a part of who she is, just like yours is of you, and it's going to come out in the way she acts no matter what...but i really wanna know what u mean by religious birthday cards. i'm not sure i understand, cuz God doesn't necessarily mean the christian one, it could mean allah or yahweh...i suppose it wouldn't go with buddhism...
Reply:My personal opinion... in general, the answer is no. But as I read your question, I think it the circumstances are different as it is from your grandmother. Whether she is right or wrong, she is showing you that she loves you and is trying to share her faith with you. It might be a fine line between love/ manipulation/ guilt but family relationships are never easy.

In your situation, I think it would be insensitive to 'accidentally' send her a religious card to 'pick a fight'. If you find a card that reflects your religion (not hers) and find that it fits the sentiment of the situation appropriately, then it might be okay.

I'd suggest not to start any 'religious quarrels'. I am giving her the benefit of the doubt that she is acting out of love, even if she is acting inappropriately. (Seems like we need to and should give family that benefit of the doubt). So whatever you do, do it out of love for her, and not out of spite. And if a quarrel should start, it can then be an opportunity for you to talk openly and honestly about your faith to your grandmother... as opposed to her percieving you as acting ignorant and insensitive yourself.
Reply:I send my blessings on your response to send the card in kind. Maybe she will get the hint after that.
Reply:Well first I would say that you shouldn't send her a card relating to your opposing faith because that would not only be poor taste but it would reflect poorly on your own faith, just as her actions reflect poorly on hers.

The thing is though that most people believe in a religion because of a precieved benifit that she is, in her own way, trying to pass on to you. Though her efforts are slightly misguided I would imagine that they are genuine.

I understand how manipulative people can be so if talking it out with her is truely impossible then I would recomend that you laugh the cards off as best you can and put them behind you.
Reply:She might not like the religion card about you.

Just give her a regular card.
Reply:Be nice.Be respectful it's your grandmother.Who will care after shes gone? You love her.
Reply:Hi Avie, what a thoughtful question you ask. It would hurt my feelings too, if I felt like a relative was disregarding my beliefs. I'd say it's rather tacky for her to be sending cards like that, but...

Honestly, I'd try to let it go. It's my experience with older relatives that it can sometimes be very hard to get through them. Sounds like there is love on all sides here, and if you're able to, try to "rise above," and just see this as a little foible of her's. I think sending her a greeting card of your religion would only make matters worse, even though it might help you feel like you're blowing off some steam.

If you can, just give her a mental hug when you get her cards, appreciate the love she feels for you, and recognize that virtually all religions have the same basic teachings (love, respect, etc.) It's rather tacky for her to be sending you cards like that, but try to see the cards with loving eyes, sigh, shrug your shoulders, shake your head, and be appreciative of having her in your life, foibles and all.

That's my 2 cents!
Reply:it's rude and inconsiderate to others, don't do that chances are you wouldn't want someone to do the same thing to you so why would you want them to do it to them, that's wrong all together. it's different if it's your gradmother sending you a card, cause she's known you your whole life she knows everything there is to know, she's your grandmother why would you want to start a stupid quarrel or a stupid card that you don't even seem to care about?
Reply:If we wish to send a message (show her what it is like) or be a little vindictive, then do it.

However, I think you should consider how you feel when you receive such cards from her.

Also, I think you should consider whether your religion would embrace such actions or whether the use of your religion to initiate a quarrel or tension is proper.

You might just have to be the bigger person.
Reply:Wow. This is a very difficult question. I don't believe birthday cards should be religiously themed at all.
Reply:your grandma must be wants the best for you, so she send such that card. I think that's okay and no problem with that kind of card but you shouldn't offend anyone with your card
Reply:While it could be viewed as inappropriate, especially if you've told her not to, chances are you won't be able to change her. If she's old and religious she's pretty stuck in her thinking. She probably hopes, deep down that you'll come around to her way of thinking.

In the end, just be glad that you have a grandma. Many people do not. I don't have any grandparents.

If you need to, feel free to send her a card from your faith. But what's important is the INTENT. If the two of you are sending cards back and forth not out of love and compassion but rather to change each other, neither of you are honest and truly honoring what the card signifies.
Reply:Too many people worry about everything..

Send any card you feel like, if they don't like it they can put it in the bin.....
Reply:Forget about it. Your grandmother obviously loves you, so just be thankful for her. She probably doesn't approve of your religious beliefs, but so what? She's elderly, and she's not going to change her opinions about anything, so just let it go. It's really not a big deal. You don't need to send her a card for people of your religion to make a point, because you have made your point by choosing your own religion, no matter what your family thinks of it. I know you're hurt because you don't have her approval in regard to your choices, but you can't make everybody happy all the time, can you? Just love your family and be thankful for them. I wish I had a grandmother to love me, and I also wish I had 700 relatives too.

Do You Save All Your Christmas/Birthday Cards?

I try to have as little "storage" as possible and enjoy the clean house and garage- I'm a neat-freak and hate clutter. Is it aweful to toss all those Hallmark cards giving to me over time?

Thanks for any advice.

Do You Save All Your Christmas/Birthday Cards?
I collected the cards for many years and one day I found myself in a 'cleaning-up-intoxication' and wanted to throw them all away but then...

I started reading them, one by one... and well, they are still hidden in a corner of my cabinet.

I found so many names of people who once meant a lot to me. I can't throw them away.
Reply:Definitely not. I only keep a few very special ones and the rest honestly go in the trash.
Reply:I don't keep all, I only keep certain ones, like I saved one birthday card that says "Nominated Asshole of the Year" because I found that hilarious, and if there is a personal poem or something from family or friends, I keep those. Cards that just say name, date, and signature, I don't keep those

Why do people not give birthday cards in the morning why wait till the afternoon and evening?

That's a damn good question. Today is my birthday, and I have to wait all freakin' day for my cards, gifts, etc.

Thanks for rubbing it in...

Why do people not give birthday cards in the morning why wait till the afternoon and evening?
Is this serious? You don't know people who give birthday cards in the morning? Well, I know some people who would actually feel something's wrong if you meet them in the morning and you wait until the afternoon or evening to give them a birthday card. I usually give a birthday card in the morning, or whenever I meet the person for the first time on his/her birthday.
Reply:probably because the birthday party is in the afternoon or evening? And usually you get all your cards at once?
Reply:Why wait until night/afternoon?
Reply:At our age, we might not make it till afternoon, much less the evening.
Reply:that is a personal choice---up to the giver
Reply:I never heard that before. I think you should always make sure the person who's birthday it is, has the card first thing, to make them feel happy and loved.

Where can I get a made to order birthday card?
If you are UK based then please go to my site at www.thecardtailor.co.uk and contact me through the site. I would be more than happy to make whatever your heart desire's.

Good luck!
Reply:See if you can find a local crafter. It is much easier to explain what you want face to face. Ask all your family and friends. This is a very popular hobby so someone is bound to know someone. Ask to see samples of their work as you may not like a particular style. I don't like the altered image style much.

Ask at your local craft shop. They will know who buys lots of cardmaking stuff and crafters often bring their work in to show off so they will have some idea who does the best work.

Ask at the Marie Curie shop. They sell handmade cards donated by crafters. If you see a style you like they may be able to put you in touch with the maker. Most will take occasional commissions even if they don't normally sell their cards.

Ask at your local library and look on their notice board. There may be a local club

Check local evening classes for a cardmaking one and ask the tutor if she will make one or recommend someone
Reply:Hi, I've been making handmade cards for over 21+ years. If you email me "exactly" what you want, adding any and all details you desire, I will be more than glad to create one for you. I have been selling hand made cards for 18 years now, and do convention shows (always sell out my cards)My house looks like a Hallmark factory.),as well as have my own hobby store in Patchogue, L.I. N.Y.

I ALWAYS love a challenge. I do believe my email address is posted above my avatar?!
Reply:moonpig.com or lots of other internet sites
Reply:check out www.absolutelyfabulouscards.co.uk (I know the person who runs this site).

She will make you a lovely hand made personalised card if that's what you want %26amp; she will listen to your requirements.

You can call her shop on 0208 397 4634. (Based in Chessington, Surrey - U.K). There's usually a member of staff that answers the phone, but she hand makes all the cards herself.

Hope you get the right card made for your fiancee.
Reply:I make cards to order, what are you looking for? I'm sure that a local craft shop or maybe your own local shop (if they sell hand made cards) would be able to put you in touch with the maker - most people can make something to order! I'm off on holiday until October 10th otherwise I'd offer! I quite often use peoples photo's (cars, pets etc) and poetry for inserts, I even made a Xmas card for someone who wanted a manger scene with 'It's a girl' on the front! still don't understand that one! Lol!

Does anyone know of any 'clever' things to write in Birthday Cards?

This site gives great poems for birthday cards.

Does anyone know of any 'clever' things to write in Birthday Cards?
You could say "happy " ** " b day in dog years,It would make them feel better about their age that theyre not a dog
Reply:The most clever thing to write would be something personal that is actually not off-the-shelf. All these cards are blahblah-bombs, nobody even reads them - unless you write something that's maybe not poetry or other hoaky stuff, but an actual personal message to a good friend and valued person - like "You know, I really like the way you te your shoe laces and pour wine the way you do". Well, that was just an example, and probably an awkward one. But do you see what I mean?
Reply:Sorry I missed your birth day.

I thought you were dead.
Reply:Still alive , keep alive and do not regret it happy reliving day

What do guys really think about birthday cards, or other greeting cards from girls?

Do guys really appreciate it when their girl buys them a "thinking of you" card or a birthday or holiday card? Or do they just read them and toss them in the trash?

What do guys really think about birthday cards, or other greeting cards from girls?
Great! She found another way to spend money. Just write your own words on a piece of paper, fold it like card and give it to me. It means so much more than a purchase of someone else's words that you can relate to.
Reply:I think it all depends on the guy. I have a guy friend who I spend chirstmas cards or birthda cards to and he always calls me right up when he gets them thanking me and how much the cards mean to him.
Reply:fellings
Reply:I used to wonder that myself but then i found out that they realy do treasure those kinds of things sometimes the same as if not more than we do.

They are quite soft hearted even though they may not show it so dont be fooled by the exterior.

If you want to give a card or letter go for it, it does make a difference to them.
Reply:I toss them after a while but definitely appreciate it. Just dont expect your man to keep it forever and ever in cute little box with all the other notes and cards ever written him...thats what girls do.
Reply:well not really like them but it's kool i don't through them away
Reply:we get them, then we tossed them no meaning
Reply:it really depends on the person. I love them just because it shows they are thinking about you.. but then there are some ppl that could care less.
Reply:They have absolutely no point whatsoever. I always think it is like saying, "Here you throw this away for me."

How would i go about making cards (birthday, thank you, retirement)?

would i need to get in touch with a card company (hallmark, etc.)

How would i go about making cards (birthday, thank you, retirement)?
Start with family, and give out the cards for the different occasions..throw it in that you made the cards especially if the people really like them. Think about making a ton of cards and going to a street fair, or town festival..it usually doesn't cost too much especially for the smaller fairs...but you have to start somewhere...And then once you have gone to at least one fair...contact a card company you would like to work for and see if they are interested..Sometimes Small stores are looking for artists and want to have Locals supplying the shop..So just keep trying...Good luck.
Reply:Go to a craft shop and buy the basics.

What encouragement to write on a birthday card for a son who is having problems?

It's my son's birthday tomorrow. He dropped out of university after 2 years (caused by a bad relationship with a girlfriend), did some temporary work whilst waiting to do a course which started this September, but has now failed one of the modules and will be asked to leave the course on his birthday. To get on this last course, he was one of 30 successful applicants from a total of 16,000. He is reliable, doesn't do drugs or drink excessively, and has never been in trouble. What words of encouragement can I write on his birthday card?

What encouragement to write on a birthday card for a son who is having problems?
Everyone is given a bad deal of cards every once in a while. It's what you learn from the hand that makes you a better person. Tell him to keep his head high and assure him things will get better.
Reply:"I am so proud of the man that you have become"
Reply:Here is to leaving behind your past, and starting new beginnings.

And thought there will be times when you want to give up, you have to keep trying. Tell yourself that tomorrow will be a better day, and believe it. There will be times that you are put in situations that you aren't quite ready for, and sometimes it will break you confidence. Keep pushing, do your best, and don't let anyone or anything get in the way of you dreams. You have come so far, and I am so proud of you. You are everything mother could ask for, and it makes me happy to think of all the possibilities for your future. Please, do not get discouraged from one fall, get back up and try again!

COMES THE DAWN

After awhile you learn the subtle difference

between holding a hand and chaining a soul.

And you learn that love doesn't mean security,

And you begin to learn that kisses aren't contracts

And presents aren't promises.

And you begin to accept your defeats with you head up and your eyes open.

With the grace of maturity, not the grief of a child.

And you learn to build all your roads on

Today because tommorow's ground is too uncertain for plans,

And futures have a way of falling down in mid-flight.

After awhile you learn that even sunshine burns if you get too much.

So you plant your own garden and decorate your own soul,

Instead of waiting for someone to bring you flowers.

And you learn that you really can endure...

That you really are strong

And that you really do have worth.

And you learn and learn and learn ....

With every goodbye you learn

When you feel your faith fading PRAY and the prayer will make you stronger

When You are perplexed PRAY and you will see how things get clearer

When you feel alone in life's trial PRAY and you will see how God is at your side always

When you think all your options are closing in PRAY and you will see how God opens new doors for you.

WHen your steps are full of shadows PRAY and see how Things will be iluminated.

When you feel full of anger and resentment PRAY and you will see how things disipate as if magic.

When you feel you are loosing your grip PRAY and you will see how God helps you stay on your feet.

CBeebies - how many children's Birthday cards do they actually show?

My son is 1 at the end of November and I wanted to send in a birthday card to CBeebies for him.

Has anyone actually had a card shown on CBeebies? The way the BBC seem to be ripping off children all time (recent Blue Peter Fiasco) I can't help wondering if most of the cards that get sent in just end up in the bin!

You can put xmas cards up to decorate and it is the "holiday season," but you only get decorations one day, and there's no "birthday season" unfortunately, it's a one-day deal.

GOOD QUESTION THOUGH

Are birthday cards a waste of money?

I am not being cheap or non traditional, but it seems to me there is a billion willion zillion pounds market for all sorts of cards and we are wasting so much money on this every year. There is also the environmental angle with the waste of paper. I don't see why we can't just keep the birthday card we buy our partner for example and bring it out next year and maybe update it every decade or so with a new card purchase.

Are birthday cards a waste of money?
I didn't realize how worthless they really are until my grandma slipped up and said she throws them away... and somewhere down the line i guess your made to feel that you need to show up with one..
Reply:I understand what you are saying. Cards for every occasion, real or made up "Congratulations on your daughter's husband taking out the trash" sort of stupidity.

I reserve the card giving for BD's and Mother's day. Easy to reuse or remake the card.
Reply:E-cards are great, environmentally friendly. My dad has never sent me a card as he agree with you, I would have loved at least one from him but I know he loves me anyway. We should make them ourselves from recycled stuff too. Am afraid I am a card addiict !!!
Reply:No, birthday cards are not a waste of money. But it is not just birthday cards, but thinking of you cards, encouragement cards, etc. They all mean that someone is thinking of you and wishing you well.
Reply:those new e mail cards are quite cute that you customize online. best of all they are free. i think that is the way to go as the price of cards is really too much. the cost of postage keeps going up and now you have to pay even more to mail an oversized envelope and most of the good cards are. unless it's a special holiday / reason, i'm going to be using more and more e cards. maybe weddings / funerals will still get traditional hallmark cards. the rest are getting a cute, creative , clever little email. most people prefer email now to paper mail.
Reply:I personally love to receive birthday cards. It shows that someone is thinking of your special day. For me it would never be a waste of money.
Reply:i know my teenage grandsons are not in to cards just the money in them there are getting more expensive every year i am going to make mine on the computer from now on
Reply:Part of me agrees with you, but the other part loves receiving them, for all sorts of occasions! I have an aunt %26amp; uncle who have been exchanging the same cards for 40 years! Looking a bit dog eared now I suppose!
Reply:NO theyre worth every penny for romantic ppl!!
Reply:NO,.......depends ......... for me saves me having to make up words saying I love you ...is that a problem cheap for me but still says thinking about you have a nice whitever .....easy......... sure get same back but do appreciate them at least Ive been noticed .......... and do read the message inside before I send ................big tip ....
Reply:No, I enjoy getting them and everyone I know does.
Reply:My next door neighbor used to do it with her husband and he didn't know it was the same card every year.

I really like to buy cards for people because I pick out certain cards for certain people.
Reply:I like to make people cards with cut outs from magazines and various silly things like that. its more personal to get a card like that.
Reply:Yes they are, for visiting the person in his/her house on his birthday is the most inportant thing and not buying a card.

the card is only a paper and will not last for more than 1 year.

so just a visit and not paper.
Reply:we used to own a shop and the cards cost about 10 to 50p imagine how much the superstores rip you off. normally we buy a bottle of wine or chocs. instead of a card + the pressy.
Reply:Yes unless they are really funny birthday cards. Cards with flowers and poems are stupid. Yuck.
Reply:lol are you bad at remembering dates ;-) I'd be gutted if i only got one birthday card every year recycled from last year and the year before and so on
Reply:yes they are.
Reply:I guess that depends on the person. If you are trying to be romantic, make your own card or write some sort of letter saying how much you love and appreciate your mate.

I believe it is one hundred times more meaningful to make your own card or write a poem or something because it shows them that you really do appreciate the person when you go the extra mile and make something yourself.
Reply:Yep, you are right. It is a massive industry. But what better or simpler way to say Happy Birthday, or Deepest Sympathy or Well Done or I Love You or any message you what on a Happy Day Card (the blank one where you write your own message). I love receiving cards and I love sending then. I get pleasure in finding one that has the words I am not capable of writing. I get pleasure from the pleasure that others get when they receive them. And for the cost from 50 pence plus a stamp (if you need to post it).

Why not give yourself a treat. Send a card to someone you love for no other reason that you love them. What Joy.

And you can do your part for the environment by looking for the cards that are produced from recycled material.
Reply:What about making or receiving home made cards just tell friends and family that you don't want them to purchase cards from the High Street shops or supermarkets as you do not want to contribute to their profits. You could also send one or receive one via the net. Their are sites where people can design their own. For a different card try the link below.
Reply:i hope u r taking this p*ss but i know what u mean. i do not tend to by a card for all these different celebration days going but i think birthday, mothers and fathers days are important. my mum and dad have everything anyone could ever need and it is difficult to buy gifts for them but i always find a nice card to let them know that i love them, and it doesnt have to cost a fortune either tight **** !!
Reply:you could always sneak the card back and send it every year

are you really so miserable ?
Reply:Except one that I will post to you on your birthday.

What is your date of birth dear?
Reply:yes, there is the environmental angle to consider, but sometimes you have to look past that and realize that a card sometimes says what we ourselves cant express. we should write and manufacture all things with hemp. that would solve soooo many problems. we should all write or e-mail our congressmen and start a revolution!

Make up a crossword puzzle and have all the hints be personal inside moments and jokes that only you two and family would know about, especially childhood memories. Put it on a poster board and add some clipart and some pictures to it!

The crossword puzzle could be time consuming and a bit frustrating ... you could do the same idea with a WORDSEARCH or WORDFIND puzzle.

Put your computer skills to work! Use Excel, get clipart from Yahoo Images Search, copy them, and reformat them, use a gluestick to put on posterboard.

Use graph paper, and pictures from magazines if you are not as good on the computer, and it will give it a homemade feeling.

Happy Birthday To the Best Friend In The World!!!!
Reply:If she's a very close friend speak from the heart. It's never wrong to tell someone you love how you love them! Sometimes people are scared about this though, so the most important thing is to write something you are comfortable with and that she'd be comfortable reading. Because you're not buying a card you can be much more personal. If all else fails, try to be funny or write down an inside joke.

If you write something meaningful, she'll always be able to take the card out and know she has a friend who cares about her... If you do the inside joke whenever she reads the card, she'll remember the memory you both share!

Birthday cards?

o:k this guy I meet who has a girlfriend brought me 2 b-day cards . He didn't write anything but happy birthday. Do you think he likes me? O yeah I got them a couple days after my b-day.

Birthday cards?
If he likes you, you will know it. You are reading too much into this. He HAS a girlfriend and it isn't you!

Most likely he wants to be friends. Be cool! You really don't want a guy who would cheat on someone else with you because then if he did become your boyfriend, you could never trust him.
Reply:Sounds like he likes you as a friend only.

Where can I make my own birthday cards for my 1 year old boy?

I want to be able to put his picture on them

Where can I make my own birthday cards for my 1 year old boy?
Snapfish.com someone just told me about this site...its really cool. You can have photo cards made(for a decent price) and you can them shipped to you or you can pick them at a nearby walgreens of your choice(its also cheaper if you this route! They are also availble within 45 mins or less sometimes!). I loved mine, great quality!
Reply:there are awesome scrapbooking and cardmaking programs

print workshop is great as is scrapbooking deluxe

both of these you can create cute cards including pictures of your son. the programs are not too expensive, i think like maybe $20 or so

or you could go to somewhere where they have the kodak machines where you scan a picture and create backrounds. i think they have birthday ones, but im not sure
Reply:make his card on the computer and then scan his picture and then put that on the card, have fun

it doesn't have to be spectacular or anything but it does mean alot to the person you're giving it too.

How many stamps would need to be on a huge birthday card?

I bought one of them really large birthday cards at Hallmark this weekend to send to a friend. I think it's almost 18-24 inches tall and atleast 12 inches wide. How many stamps do you think I need on it, or will i have to go ship it by getting it measured and weight? Thanks

How many stamps would need to be on a huge birthday card?
you would have to take it to the post office to get weighed.
Reply:It's no longer just the weight - they have size restrictions now. You should go to the post office, but their website might have some information. A link to the US Postal Service for calculation is below.
Reply:You will have to get it measured at the post office, if you are in the uk the royal mail website has a quotation thing and you can buy the postage online, i am sure the ups has one too. Best not to guess after you have gone to so much trouble.
Reply:It is better if you go have it weighed for accurate postage so you don't waste.
Reply:Go to the post office.

Where can i find a large birthday card for my daughters 1st?

I've been to Hallmark, Birthdays, Clintons, Crad Galore and moon pig, but there are no really large cards reading "To our Daughters 1st Birthday". Any suggestion welcome except ebay

Where can i find a large birthday card for my daughters 1st?
You should definitely try to make one! It's actually a lot easier than it seems.

To make a really good one, you're probably best using: wrapping paper, large card, a matching or complementary coloured piece of small card, and a photograph of your daughter.

The easiest thing to decorate a large card is wrapping paper. Find yourself a nice bit of girly or baby birthday paper, or even just something with a nice pattern.

Next you'll need to get a big enough piece of card. Pop to your local art shop (Millers etc are usually good but I'm not sure where abouts you are). They usually sell card up to about A0 (which is huge - 16xA4!) in a variety of colours. If you can, try to get a coloured sheet - maybe something to match your wrapping paper.

Half the card, and use the wrapping paper to cover either all of it or a section of it as you wish.

Taking a photo of your daughter, stick it on to the small piece of corresponding card, and cut it out leaving a nice border all the way round. Now stick this on to the large card, and any other little printouts/magazine cutouts/cut out details from the wrapping paper.

The easiest way to get your message on is just to print it out. You should still have enough of yur small card to print a message onto, and you can just pick a nice font and include your daughter's name ("A very happy first birthday to our beautiful daughter..." or something!).

She will treasure it when she's older and it's cheap and easy to make, while looking really professional. I've included a picture to give you a rough idea!

Reply:I never saw one specifically for 1st birthday, but I used to get the giant ones at Walgreens or CVS(Eckerds) when my son was little. I would just take a marker, and personalize the one I could find!
Reply:Design your own here...;
Reply:i dont know if they have 1st birthdays but they have huge birthday cards at walgreens so try that. they are open 24 hours too so you can go when ever. hope they have it
Reply:Make one with her favourite characters and personalise it.

If you're not very artistic, go online to the cbeebies website, and print off things to colour, paint, glitter etc..

It'll be REALLY fun!!
Reply:how about making one and then put it away till she was older. I did it with my 2 and they love getting it out.
Reply:yes like every1 else said make it... it could b a special reminder of the good old days or somthing like that
Reply:y dont u try something own which will be very affectionate
Reply:i know that the card warehouse do them, i got my daughters 1st birthday card there, it had daughter abd 1st birthday on, it was really nice they do them for boys to, it cost me 2.99
Reply:I dont know where you are located but if you have a factory card outlet, they have them. Other than that there should be some card places at your local mall you could check out. I do like the idea of making your own as well. Maybe you could put different pictures of her in there from when she was first born through her 1st. Then tell her how big she has gotten, etc. You can do alot if you make your own.
Reply:Make one if you've got a printer that will handle card just put a suitable image on it .it will mean more to her when she's older more personal than amass produced card.
Reply:I guess making one is your only option. Not much point though, I doubt she can read yet.
Reply:Why dont you make one? Buy some card and sticky things! put sweets and feathers and glitter on it and stuff, I'm sure it will make a better keepsake and your daughter will laugh when she is older and looks back at what mummy and daddy made for her.

plus you and your wife will have great fun making it!

hapy birthday to your little angel anyway.

helen x x x
Reply:Make the card yourself it is so much more personal and it wont cost you anything just be creative
Reply:you can find the large birthday card from town and white rose center there are lots of large birthdays card.
Reply:you could save yourself a bundle just by making one btw.

Where can I find free Disney Cars birthday invitations & thank you cards?

Where can I find free Disney Cars birthday invitations %26amp; thank you cards?
Disney does not do free...I would be wary of anyone offering free Disney stuff as they are probably not authorized to sell it..

Following your birthday, and a decent interval, what do you do with your birthday cards?

Also, do you believe in re-gifting the presents that you don't really like?

Following your birthday, and a decent interval, what do you do with your birthday cards?
affer a shelf life of 1 wk thats fair and then theyre binned- had ideas of collaging but never got round to it and dont like hoarding stuff. unwanted gifts, ive been q lucky on that score and havent had any as u get older all ur expecting is what u asked for and the buyers have been v careful eg vouchers so i choose what i want,my mum and sister are good too with 'surprises' to add to monetary gifts. if i got unwanted pressies then id charity them or sell on auction and maybe buy for that 'unwanted gift buyer' boy was that longwinded but answered well or maybe not-ciao!
Reply:After a few weeks, I shred all the cards and put them in the recycling bag. Having said that, I did keep my 21st birthday cards for over 20 years before I chucked them out. If I were to get a present that I didn't really like, I think I would probably keep it for a while and then maybe gift it to someone as long as it wasn't the person who gave it to me or anyone who knew the person who gave it to me!
Reply:I chuck the ugly birthday cards and keep the really nice ones with nice words for quite a while.

I have also re-gifted....lol
Reply:I save every card I get. I had a picnic basket I never used that became my card storage, lol.

I like the idea of maybe cutting the fronts off and using them in scrapbooks or make a collage.

One of my friends burns hers, and as each card burns they say a memory they enjoy about the person who sent it. kinda weird, but some people like that kind of thing.
Reply:I open them, read them, toss them (unless the giver is standing right there). I don't re-gift.
Reply:I toss them in the trash... you'll get more next year.

I don't regift because I rarely get birthday gifts. But I would if it wasn't something I could use.

g-day!
Reply:My wife cuts them up and recycles the designs on the front into handmade cards.

Does re-gifting include E-Bay
Reply:i keep all my cards and my husbands and my kids all 4 of them!!!!! SSSSHHHHHHH re-gifting is a secret !!!!!!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY !
Reply:One year, my brother gave me sack instead of a card. He folded it in half like a book, and wrote on the front of it, "For your birthday, I walked all the way downtown and bought you the perfect card. I even put it in the envelope so it wouldn't get smudged or dirty..." Then, on the inside, he drew a birthday cake on the left, and on the right, he wrote, "....but, on the way home I lost it! But, here's the sack it came in!"
Reply:go to google then go to images next type in printable birthday cards and go to the first one(if u like it)
