I bought a huge card for a friends birthday and I have to mail it out. I'm sure someone has bought one before, any idea on how many stamps I need to put on it? The stamps I have are USA First class, tan background with the American flag. Any idea how many?
How many stamps do I need for one of those JUMBO birthday cards?
Don't think elephants appreciate cards anyway so why bother sending it.
Reply:Take it to the post office and ask them. They'll be more than happy to weigh it and give you the exact amount of postage needed.
Reply:Phone the post office and ask. Know the length, width and thickness of the item. Know the weight (if less than 3.5 oz., "less than 3.5 oz." is sufficiently precise).
There's a surcharge for over-large and/or for lots of other things even if the item is under 3.5 oz. The surcharge is *less* than a second stamp, but it's usually more convenient to use a second 1st-class stamp than to make a separate trip for a lesser-value stamp.
