If I wanted to make Birthday Cards for people for money can I use Copywrited cartoon images on the cards?

And where would I go to get permission? Thank you!!!!!

If I wanted to make Birthday Cards for people for money can I use Copywrited cartoon images on the cards?
A lot of cartoon images are not only copyrighted, they are Trademarked - meaning you'd have to apply directly to the company that owns the design for permission, then pay big bucks for a license to use their image.

If you go ahead without permission or a license, you run the risk of a hefty lawsuit.
Reply:As long as you have written permission from the person or company that has the item trademarked or copyrighted. Otherwise you can get in a lot of trouble.

Are you willing to send a Birthday card to make a young cancer patient happy?

Seven year old Shane Bernier is a brave cancer patient. His wish is to set a world record for receiving the most Birthday cards. THIS IS NOT A JOKE. Many people from around the world are sending cards to Shane. He doesn't need to hear about his cancer, just a sincere Birthday wish for a sweet little boy. His Birthday is May 30th, but we can start sending the cards now. What do you say is this a good way to use 'Answers?'.

My son passed away from cancer at just two years old. He was too young to completely realize what was happening but its a great idea and everyone should help. For the rude responses you really should consider getting a life. These are precious children and it will cost less then a dollar.
Reply:Yeah, i'll send him a card only because if this is true and not a joke it would make him happy. I am NOT gonna put a return address on it though. If this is true, I hope Shane recovers from his cancer, I really do, it's a terrible thing to go through. Take care and good luck.
Reply:like i believed you

Is he turning 7 on his birthday?
Reply:I will send one from Ohio!!! I think it is a great idea!
Reply:Just a caution, the Guiness World Record is currently held by a 'boy' named Craig Shergold who was also 'dying' from a brain tumor. He didn't die, he survived and is now 22 years old and cards are still coming. Shergold surpassed 350 million cards and the Guiness people retired the category.

Shergold and his family have begged people for 15 years to stop sending cards, but their wishes are ignored.

People should be careful what they wish for.

Any crafty birthday card ideas for Starbucks lovers?

My boyfriend and I met at the Starbucks by our school. I'm trying to make a card or scrapbook page that ties Starbucks into it. I've already grabbed a few of the coffee jackets from Starbucks, but between school and work, my creative mojo seems to be lacking. He loves Starbucks and the fact that we met there is really special to us. Any craft ideas for birthday cards?

Any crafty birthday card ideas for Starbucks lovers?
Get a blank white card, and inside write "I spent way too much on something so cheap."

kidding.

I'd get a small card (like what they put in flowers). Write a nice little note on it, and put it in a Starbucks coffee bean bag or bottle if they sell that.
Reply:Find a card that has a cup on the front of it. On the inside take some glue and sprinkle coffee grounds (fresh) . Shake off the rest. Then add a gift card the restaurant like the Olive Garden, or starbucks. Make sure that you can smell the coffee thur the envelope. I know it's not a manly thing to do but it's the thought that counts and sweet memories.
Reply:A photo of someone who is wired from too much coffee; wild eyes, wild hair. And the words 'Gotta Have It'.
Reply:when is the birthday? is it before november 8th?

if it's after november 8th, check out this site: http://www.starbucks.com/mycard/

just got out of a holiday meeting with management and you'll be able to customize starbucks cards.. :)
Reply:I bought a Valentine's Day card from Starbucks this past year because it was SO cute, and our first "date" was an informal coffee at Starbucks. The inside of the card said, "I love you a latte." I still crack up at it.
Reply:I'm sure that the napkin, and holder are great starts. Imagine this: A blue back ground, with the napkin displayed like a banner. A photo of the two of you peaking out from a Starbucks Coaster Frame. Allow the stir sticks to be the posts holding the banner up. Use words to do with coffee and love and birthdays smattered around the card.
Reply:You could create a pop-up card that is the coffee jacket which serves as a frame or mat for a picture of the two of you. Here is the basic popup, you would then glue the starbucks jacket and pic to the popup...)

you can also cut that starbucks logo off a cup and use it on the cover, maybe cut into a heart shape? and also maybe get a coffee ring (like what happens when you are drinking your coffee and a bit dribbles down the side and leaves a ring on the table, napkin or coaster) on the cover too with a sweet sentiment on the inside of it.

have fun with it, hope this jumpstarts yer creative mojo
Reply:well if you give him a gift card there you could say here's a few bucks to bucks. haha. just an idea.

What are some good home-made birthday card ideas?

I need to make a birthday card for a very special friend of mine. Does anyone have any ideas or know any good websites on how to make cool birthday cards? Any advice would be helpfull, becuase I am not very creative...

Thanks!!!

What are some good home-made birthday card ideas?
For the decoration part... check out your local craft store. Even some stickers at the Dollar Stores can help you out. Keep the artwork colorful and simple.

As far as the GREETING... next time something makes you laugh, conversation with a friend, eavesdropping in line at the store, or a silly twisted slip of the tongue that comes out all wrong but hilarious... POST IT NOTES!!! Write down anything that makes you giggle and maybe you can spice up your homemade greetings. Good luck!
Reply:My four year old could help you with this quest.
Reply:Here are a few web site that you could use. I know the last one is about pregnancy but there is also a crafting area and ideas about making cards.

Reply:Go to the scrapbooking store~!

You can get some really nice patterned paper and you can also get mini applique type things to glue on. I think they even have a section at wal-mart crafts to "make your own card" kits. Some are very cute.

I personally like the stick people home made cards.
Reply:Old calender pictures and magazines are a good start. think of what your friend likes, and cut out pictures, stick them to card paper in a collage'. then write a nice little poem or find a saying on a site to put inside.
Reply:Get a piece of computer paper, fold it in half, and on the front draw a cake with candles. (With the candles, make sure it's the person's age!) And still on the front write Happy Birthday (Their Name)! Then on the inside write a little something to them.
Reply:You could get a bunch of arts and crafts and you could go from there and just use your imagination and go from there and put stuff together for your friend
Reply:well, it depends on what the party is like and stuff, i need more details, but family fun MIGHT be a good website

Do you actually believe its ok to get birthday cards from relatives?

because its NOT you get birthday and christmas cards from people you dont know well but when a family member does it thats just being lazy and wrong

makes me wanna beat them in the head with the nearest frying pan.....or television set or whatever is the closest blunt object

Do you actually believe its ok to get birthday cards from relatives?
Yeah, I do not want to hear from my extended family. Right in the trash.
Reply:It doesn't bother me, they're usually given in person, attatched to a present. The only exception is my aunt who lives too far away to come see me in person. But she calls as well.
Reply:wow. you have issues then. i think it's fine. i get bday cards from relatives, some call me. %26amp; it's not lazy. jeez.

you're weird.
Reply:you have some serious issues...why would it be wrong for a relative to send you a birthday card? are you expecting a gift instead or what? be glad they are thinking of you.

Keep or Throw Away old Birthday and christmas cards?

Is there any point in keeping them, I mean there nice, but thats it, what's the real point of keeping them.

Keep or Throw Away old Birthday and christmas cards?
Yes there is a point in keeping old cards you can cut them up and use them as gift tags and make new cards out of them or even simply copy the words off of your favorite cards on your next cards to someone, you can decorate things with them even put them in clear acrylic frames and use them as pictures, they make lovely pictures, I have saved some Christmas cards and made some gift tags and even used them as post cards, Birthday cards to a certain someone special like a spouse or boyfriend I have always kept to look back on from time to time but that is the only ones I keep forever is the birthday cards or Christmas cards to my spouse, I have put them in a photo album for safe keeping. Good Luck !
Reply:I don't ever keep birthday cards. The usual suspects send them to me each year. As for Christmas cards, I will keep those for a year so when I'm doing my cards the following year, I don't forget someone who sent one.
Reply:theres no point but you can savew one or two for each year if you want just as a reminder if you do decide to keep some keep the best ones the prettiest but i suggest not to save too many b/c its really just junk
Reply:Some people are sentimental about them, or are packrats. Or even use them for decorations.
Reply:Their is no point in keeping the it self. But you can

use them by cutting out the images and using them

Christmas ornaments, or as tags to put on a present,

it's cheaper then buying them.
Reply:I keep only special cards like when baby is born /baptized/first Xmas b/day.And wedding cards and first anniversary,Then I'd keep 18/21/40 birthday cards and cards form hubby and kids.I think it depends how sentimental you are.
Reply:keep them , well most of them . Mainly the ones from my children´s birthdays , ones my husband has given me . Always nice to keep these, then when you get older you look back in time
Reply:I keep the birthday ones for my kids when they are little... I like to look back through them from time to time... I also keep some of my Christmas cards, if they have a personal note or if they are from someone really important in my life. The real point of keeping them is for sentimentality. If you aren't sentimental, get rid of them and lead a nice clutter-free life! Your tidy house will thank you!
Reply:I only keep the ones that have sentimental value to them, but most of them I throw away. I like to do scrapbooking, so if a card has a cool picture or design on it, I will save it for that.

I do keep keep the Christmas cards that I get from my friends that have pictures of their kids on them. I think those are cute!
Reply:keep the cards family gave you
Reply:Buy a file cabinet if you want to keep all of them otherwise select a few special ones and put in a small box or display them nicely.

have fun
Reply:I keep my kids b-day cards and have started each of them their own scrapbook (pictures through the years, cards, etc.). I also keep Christmas cards that have beautiful pictures on them and glued them to colored card stock (to keep them firm and give them a border), and cut the edges with the creative border scissors and punched holes at the top and strung ribbon through them. They look great hanging on my Christmas tree, and when they get aged they look even better! Very rustic-country if you like that thing.

Any good at writing birthday cards?

One of my work colleagues is celebrating her birthday in the next week - she is slightly senior, and we are more "colleagues" than "friends". I thought it would be nice to give her a card anyway, just to be polite, but I'm not entirely sure what to write inside.

Any good at writing birthday cards?
It is a nice gesture to give someone a card and very thoughful. In my family we keep birthday wishes short so this is what i think you should do. You should keep it simple you dont need a long fussy message. You can say her name or To____ (Dear is a little to formal) then something such as: "wishing you a happy birthday, have a good one" or "i hope you enjoy your birthday". Then sign off you your name.
Reply:To be polite is awsome. I hate phoney, gushy. Is there some kind of thing she does that you cauld say,,, Happy birthday to the best--(what ever she is ) does she do something better than anyone else in the workplace? If not I would sign it just as you fel about her.
Reply:all the best,

best wishes,

many happy returns,
Reply:many more to come

Birthday cards for sick children?

I had once bookmarked a website where I could learn about and send letters/birthday cards to chronically ill children. I've lost the bookmark and cannot remember the name of the site. Does anyone know the name of a site similar to this? Every child had a P.O. box, a list of interests, and a brief story about their challenging lives with a serious illnous. Thank you!!

Can anybody give a few idea's to make some think out of old birthday cards?

I HAVE A 4 YEAR OLD AND WE HAVE LOTS OF BIRTHDAY CARDS DONT WONT TO THROW THEM AWAY AS WE HAVE A ART NIGHT BUT WE HAVE MADE PITCHERS ANY OTHER IDERS WOULD BE GREAT THANKS

Can anybody give a few idea's to make some think out of old birthday cards?
You could make flash card sets where the child will begin to recognize colors, numbers, shapes, and sizes.
Reply:make yourself a box and post yourself around the world, its cheaper than buying airline tickets and its fun
Reply:More cards, or gift tags?
Reply:Gift tags. All you need is a pair of zig-zag scissors, some shapes to draw round (centre of sellotape roll, etc) some glue, glitter, hole punch and string. Its great and kids love it! My son makes Christmas tags out of last years cards every December and nobody minds that the glitter is about an inch thick cos its all home made.
Reply:I've kept all of my birthday cards from over the years, but I have yet to do anything with them myself, but what I was thinking about doing was getting a large frame and putting them in a Callase. It's quite cool especially if you have a meaningful letter attached to the inside each of the cards from who ever sent them at that time. You can also cut the card in half at the crease and put them side by side or whatnot.
Reply:convert them 2 envelops
Reply:Recycle them
Reply:Cut out the pictures and make new home made cards with her or take them to tescos they recycle them
Reply:Birthday cards are always very colorful use them as background for scrapbooks , cut out big letters and use them as labelling for the events in the pictures
Reply:Use them to collage your loo.

It is the most used room and it would cheer everyone up.

I decorated mine in smiley face wrapping paper so that we would always get smiles first thing in the morning

I hope your day is special... just like you!

Humor most of the time in birthday cards is actually rather mean, but you could say something like "Don't forget, I'll always be younger than you" (if that is true) or put ads for senior supplements or walkers inside the card. Something like that.

Is there anyone out there that think cards are useless for birthday presents?

I dont really appreciate getting cards for birthdays because in my opinion its just another reason for hallmark to make money and you basically read it and then it sits around my house.

Cards are good in other cases when you give a message or something.. i dunno. Im going to get people cards Im still going to do it but i just got some cards sitting under my desk with hallmark on it so i decided to rant, anyone agree but?

Cards are good with money inside as a present
Reply:Not if they have money in them.
Reply:well in my family when u get a card from someone it is never empty, my grandma always sends me a card for my birthday that always has at least 100 dollars in it, so those kinds of cards can keep coming!! but just cards!! no!! they gotta come with something, oh and Valentine cards are special if they have something written from the person that sent it to you.

Where can I find a birthday cards on the web to print out?

I'm not sure about where you can print out birthday cards from the web for free, but when I need one I get my kids to make them (they are 11 and 9 years old). Are save the date cards appropriate for child birthday parties?

Is is appropriate to send parents Save the Date cards of my child's birthday party? Her birthday falls in the summer when school is out, July to be exact. I just wanted to send a simple save the date card as a reminder of the upcoming party. I do intend to mail more formal invitations 2 weeks prior to the party. Oh, she'll be 9 years old.

Are save the date cards appropriate for child birthday parties?
I think it's a great idea. Kids with summer birthdays always get the short end of the stick, if only because it's impossible to reach many of the families. I can't imagine anyone taking offense at this.

It's unique. It's different. You're thinking outside the box. Good on ya.
Reply:Save the date cards are usually for formal occasions. I think it quite unnecessary for a child's party. Even though your child's party is in the summer when families are taking vacation and other summer events, I don't think that they will change these sort of plans because of a child's party. If you are overly concerned about rsvp's, you might want to send the formal invitations earlier.
Reply:I don't know if they are appropriate or not, but I would consider that unusual and unnecessary. It's not like a formal event like a wedding, when people may have to travel to attend and need to make arrangements early. It just seems like overkill for a 9-year-old's birthday.
Reply:Just send the invite a couple weeks before the birthday ,that should be sufficient. Save the date cards are mostly used for up coming weddings, and family reunions. Unless its a 50th anniversary or 100th birthday , I wouldn't.
Reply:No. Save the date cards are for MAJOR events like weddings. Seems to me that anybody truly interested will have a good idea when the birthday is anyhow.
Reply:Its not innapropriate at all. You are just kindly reminding the people to "save the date"
Reply:I would wait until closer to the party.

Need to make birthday cards fast?

Hi. Can you please give me a website that there are cards on, complete with instructions and the things you have to buy.......10x mwas

Need to make birthday cards fast?
try making them with templates from microsoft.com
Reply:Print Shop and such greeting card programs are good for a quick job, but I think the local drugstore is quicker.
Reply:e-cards
Reply:If you want to do some handcraft cards, you could buy some paper for watercolor and watercolor paintings. So, you put in the paper a lot of water and with a brush with a lot of painting, you touch the paper. You will get every card to be special and different, ones it´s dry, with a pen or something like it, you write whatever you want or even print it on your computer. Trust me is going to look awesome! good luck and hope this works for you.

What should I do with old birthday and holiday cards?

I really hate to throw away meaningful notes in cards that people have written to me. But they are piling up in shoeboxes and I don't know what to do with them. Any creative ideas?

What should I do with old birthday and holiday cards?
I incorporate mine into scrapbooks. I make a pocket to keep the card intact. For the cards without personal notes, I use the picture on the front or the preprinted words, sometimes with a picture or reference to the sender.

If you are looking to make space, you could scan them into your computer and create a electronic scrapbook.
Reply:mum used to get those old blank scrapbook thingys and stick cards in there, they're really interesting to look at :) i stick notes that i don't want to throw away on my wall. or you could put them in a scrapbook (like a proper crafty one)
Reply:Put it in an album and make it colourful, nice and put in the sitting room for others to read
Reply:make a collage.

Who writes the verses in birthday cards etc.?

I could sit all day churning out that kind of verse.

Or do they now have a computer programme that does it for them?

I've just advised some-one to explore whether there is any money in it, and now wonder if I've given them a bum steer

(can I say bum steer on answers.yahoo?)

Who writes the verses in birthday cards etc.?
You can actually get a job in that area... I have been offered one before! There is money in it but I am not sure how much... But look at all of us, we sit around and write sappy lines all the time, what would be the difference except we'd be getting paid for it!

No, you did not give him a bum steer! LOL
Reply:the people who are hired to write usually people with experience in poetry or writing
Reply:Hallmark Cards is based right down the street. I applied years ago, but didn't get the job. They have a test you can take. TD
Reply:There are lots of different cards. Some are written with a few lines others are written with poems of the past. Sometimes the poet is on the card somewhere. As for making money from it, not known. Check out greeting card poems and opportunties to write or something like that on a search engine

I just bought an assortment of birthday cards and noticed the envelopes say, "No extra postage required?

Is this the same as, "No postage necessary" on certain business envelopes? If I mail one, should I put a stamp on it anyway?

I just bought an assortment of birthday cards and noticed the envelopes say, "No extra postage required?
If there is no postage on the envelope, either by a meter or stamp of some sort, and you didn't purchase the cards from the post office, then no, it's not the same as no postage necessary.

Some cards weigh a little more than regular letters, which means that they require more than the standard stamp to mail. I expect "No extra postage required" in this case just means that the card can be mailed at the regular price.
Reply:What "No extra postage required" means, is that the cost of one first class stamp will be sufficient. The weight of the card/envelope will not cost any more than the current first class postage stamp (one).

Take care.
Reply:Postage is necessary, just not extra.
Reply:it means it isn't oversized and should just require regular postage.
Reply:This means that only first-class postage is required - no "additional" postage. You will still need a standard stamp for these cards. The reason for this clarification is that some "oversized" envelopes may be large enough to require postage of more than a standard stamp.
Reply:i have seen this on qvc once where the envelopes were already ready to go. no postage required, it was around christmas time %26amp; it really meant the postage had been paid for the mailing of the cards. that was the first and only time i ever seen anything like that.

What is the world's record in who got the most birthday cards on their birthday?

My guess would be the Queen Mother on her hundredth.

What is the world's record in who got the most birthday cards on their birthday?
Its U..!
Reply:I know it wasn't my grandmother, but it was crazy when my uncle sent us all 5 cards to send to her 80 cards on her 80th... I think she ended up getting 90-something cards (people who just spontaneously sent her cards, unassociated with my uncle's plan)... the mail lady laughed the whole way to the door because most of them actually arrived in one day, her b-day, of course.

Can someone tell me a good sight to make birthday cards that you can print out?

Try Ameerican Greetings.com

Ideas for Birthday cards for friends?
Why not take photos from the length of your friendship and put them into a collage or scrapbook of sorts? Make a really big (like poster-sized) card, decorate it with fun colors and papers and cutouts and all that, and then make a list (the number of bullets could be her age) of why she's such a great friend (ie if she's turning 20, the 20 reasons why so-and-so is amazing).

Have fun!
Reply:Just a simple card, add a flower and it'd be perfect. Flowers always work.

http://bestcartoonblog.blogspot.com/
Reply:From the newsagent, obtain a nice piece of plain, stiff paper.

The bigger the better.

Fold in half.

Write a message in the centre in your own neat handwriting. You could simply say: "You light up my day".

Attach a single silk flower sunflower to front which you will get from supermarket or florist.

Deliver in person.

And probably most of the small stores around it. Any "librairie-papeterie" and "presse" stores will sell cards too. Your mistake was to look for big chain stores when they are sold in the small places that sell papers, magazines or gifts.
Reply:I don't know if it is still there, but there used to be a little card shop outside the Gobelins metro station, near the intersection St. Martin and Gobelins. It was next to my favorite cafe Le Canon des Gobelins. If I recall correctly, they had a nice selection of really cute cards.

Also, there are several card shops in the Latin Quartier, near the Cartier store. I think I was on boulevard St. Germain.

There's a really nice shop near the Pompidou center. It's right across the street from the entrance. I spent over an hour in there browsing the last time I went to Paris (a year ago).
Reply:The W.H. Smith shop will have some in English too.
