How many stamps does it take to send a birthday card in a letter size envelope?

need answers by right now! lol thanks

How many stamps does it take to send a birthday card in a letter size envelope?
It takes just one 41cent stamp unless the envelope that came with the birthday card says-"extra stamp required". I am referring to America, only. If in doubt, though, I always just put 2 stamps on. I would rather do that than have a birthday card returned to me and have the birthday person miss receiving their card. :o) Good Luck!
Reply:probably just one stamp $0.41
Reply:it usually one takes one stamp, sometimes when you buy those cards with the square envelopes they say right on the envelope that they require extra postage. for regular envelopes it isn't the size but the weight that makes it cost more.
Reply:If it doesn't weigh over one ounce, then it takes one 41 cent stamp.
Reply:one
Reply:Usually one, but make sure it is the right amount. They recently raised it to 41 cents.
Reply:It depends on how much the stamps are worth!!!! Check the US Postal Service website. WWW.USPS.gov

How long are you suppose to keep greeting cards of birthday cards etc. before you throw them away?

My brother used to burn them as soon as he read them

How long are you suppose to keep greeting cards of birthday cards etc. before you throw them away?
anytime i guess. WHy throw it away why not keep them for good memories.
Reply:right after you take out the money?
Reply:i usually throw them out the day after my b-day
Reply:I keep them about a month. Things from my husband are kept and put away. Also, sentimental letters, cards and things are put away.

My Christmas cards are packed away each year with my decorations. It's a good surprise and reminder next year when I take out decorations. As I get in new cards, I replace them and throw away the ones from last year.

You can't keep everything, or clutter will take over.
Reply:If the B'day card was from an immediate family member (like bro, sis, espcially MOM or Dad, I keep them displayed for at least a week.

As far as greeting cards in general, it depends on who sent them to me. If I really liked the card, I put it in a folder I have for "really great cards". Or if the card isn't that great, but it has something important to me written inside, I also put that in my folder in my room. It's fun to go through the folder when you're feeling blah.

The others, I go through within two days and throw away, unless I have to write thank yous for gifts or phone a thank you. (Then I get rid of the card).
Reply:It's a sentimental issue--let your conscience be your gude
Reply:take out the money. read the card to be polite i guess. wait till the ppl who gave u the card leave. then toss it.
Reply:you can throw them away whenever you want you can keep them in a box as memories or throw it away after a week. just be sure not to throw it away in front of the person who gave it to you
Reply:i keep them for a litttle bit about a month then but the important one's to me in a box with the past cards it is just up to you

Happy late Birthday
Reply:until the bomb explodes.

Where can I buy leap year birthday cards, my friend is 40 (10?)on 29th and I would like a special card for her
moonpig.com
Reply:online moonpig will make you a card but they are expensive, just go to local card retailer like clintons and they can give you numbers and letters to put on the cards yourself.
Reply:I'd defo try Moonpig, if they don't do them there should be something on there where you could create your own. Good luck.
Reply:Try moonpig.com you can pick a template for the basics of thecard but you can change most of the text on a lot of their card, you can even put pictures on some. and the don't cost any more than you would expect to pay in a shop.
Reply:clintons , and all good card shops have them .

Good Luck
Reply:why not just buy her a happy 10th birthday card?

You forget a birthday card, and don't remember for months. When is the time limit for belated cards?

Not birthday cards but Christmas cards... My wife gave me a handful to post and I forgot them. In June they came to light and I pushed them into a post box, every one of the recipients made a point of thanking us for them, putting me into deep guano.

You forget a birthday card, and don't remember for months. When is the time limit for belated cards?
I would say up to a week - any later is just an insult.
Reply:There is no set time limit for belated birthday cards, although I would try to stick within the same year. I often send cards belated and other and it really makes the receiver happy, so if you are late (within the year) go ahead send one they are welcomed I can assure you - The answers so far do not prove me wrong as I have a list of people who have appreciated them truely.
Reply:A few weeks.

Now it is time to hand-write a note wishing them well, and expressing your shame at having missed the birthday. A card will not do.
Reply:I would say about 2 weeks is the max. After that you might as well forget about it.
Reply:Its never too late eat humble pie.At least you have remembered.
Reply:Try as long as you get it out before the next birthday.
Reply:I'd say a month max, otherwise you're taking the p*** and better off forgetting it!
Reply:i would say within a week of the birthday, anything past that you should just call and explain....

ie

"I was thinking about you the other day and realized I forgot your birthday a while back! I don't know where my mind has been, let's grab lunch sometime..."

keep it lighthearted!
Reply:Well I think it's got to be no longer than a week. After that you are looking at doing some serious groveling and it would probably be best to send a small gift and explain you forgot.
Reply:It depends how often you see the other person. If it's a rarity, a general card and a gift would show you're thinking of them as well as your own disappointment in being late.

'Months' sounds way too long to send a birthday card, unless you are sending for the next birthday.

Overall, if this person is important to you, show them this in some other way. Apologies never went out of fashion, either, but your focus is on helping keep this person feeling close to you and letting them know that you care for them.

Good luck! Rob (Often very forgetful too)
Reply:i hate selfish folk see a shrink first as to y you would forget. who wants a poxy late card!
Reply:No time limit. Anytime before the next birthday. So do send that belated card, it will make the person happy.
Reply:When the person whose birthday you forgot stops talking to you!!!
Reply:Blame it on the Post Office. They do lose thousands so why not include yours if it is going to get you off the hook.

Do you keep a collection of birthday/valentine cards that your loved one has given you over the years?

Yes....since 1969. Also, all the letters my wife wrote me since we've been married. Since I was in the Navy and gone from time to time, we wrote LETTERS ON PAPER. I was gone 2 months to Japan before she came over, 13 months to Antarctica, 12 months to the Middle East, 6 months to the Indian ocean and 6 months to the Mediterranean.

I think it's sad that folks seem to only write emails to their men overseas now. No letters tucked in the back of the closet in a shoe box or tied with some string to be found years from now by their kids. From time to time my wife and I clear things from the closet and sit on the floor reading some of the letters from each other. We got married in 1969, and I retired in 1985 (after my last cruise to the Mediterranean).

Some how E-mails just don't seem the same as a letter written by your lover's hand. I remember my mom having kept letters from my father when he was in Germany in WW2. They were in Finn (my parents came from Finland) and since I didn't learn much Finn, she had to translate them for me when I was a boy years later. Unfortunately, some time along the line (years after they were divorced) she seems to have thrown them away.

Do you keep a collection of birthday/valentine cards that your loved one has given you over the years?
I've kept every single card and letter my husband ever gave me (since 1968). I have also kept all of the cards and notes from my daughter. I have little tiny notes she wrote me when she was little that have never left my wallet. They're pretty ragged now. Just can't throw away the sentimental things that have touched my heart. When my Mom passed away in 2001, we found all of the cards that the 5 kids had given her through the years. I guess I just come from a sentimental family!
Reply:I am very sentimental and I saved most from different boy friends, I've been going through them and throwing them away. I try to keep one for memories. 3 of my closest boyfriends are now dead and it's nice to look at them at times.I f I should ever get married again ( which I seriously doubt) I will destroy all of them.
Reply:I have a few.My nephew sent me a Christmas card in 05.he signed from your nephew that is far away.I was in Ca. and he was in La.he passed away in March 06.In the card a picture of him smiling as he was walking thru a door was in it.Now I know he is far away on the other side and doing well.....
Reply:I have kept only a "select" few as years of getting cards (my brother who passed away years ago and my mother and son, etc.) can accumulate. I tell them to just say it verbally to me and save their money. They don't listen.
Reply:Over the years I've stuck them in books and drawers and boxes. It's great to run across one as I'm looking for something to read, or sorting through a drawer or box for a lost object.
Reply:I had to run away from my house due to domestic abuse leaving almost everything behind. I was a third generation "pack rat".
Reply:Yes, I do because I'm a very sentimental person. I will treasure them always. ♥
Reply:Yes, I keep everything.

Thats good and bad.
Reply:Yes, I have them hidden from my brothers under my bed, and inside a scrapbook. I think they're so special.
Reply:I do and enjoy reading them.
Reply:Yea, I have a whole bunch of them. Some are from people that have sinced died so they are really special to me.
Reply:Yes - all in a box - sure is great to look back on them over time.
Reply:Guilty, but just the most special ones.
Reply:No. We've moved so often, lost a lot of stuff over time. I am happy to save pictures.
Reply:I don't,but my late wife did,and my wife now does.
Reply:I have a couple shoe boxes full of them =)
Reply:yes i keep all of them in a storage box. I take them out and remember how that day was special.
Reply:I use to, but stopped doing it after 72 years!
Reply:yes, very special to me.
Reply:Yes!!! All of them!!!!!!!!! Why???
Reply:I do ... many many years worth ....

Is this a good idea for a birthday card?

On the front is a collage of candy. And on the inside I think I'm going to write "I hope you have a sweet 13th birthday." I personaly think it's a little dorky. Tell me if it's okay or what I should change it to. Keep in mind this is for one of my guy friends.

How much will it cost to mail a birthday card with a Wal-Mart gift card and a letter in it?

I live in Missouri, will it only take one stamp or what?

How much will it cost to mail a birthday card with a Wal-Mart gift card and a letter in it?
i'd take it to the post office and let someone there decide what the correct postage should be. that way you'll be sure it arrives without being returned for insufficient postage.
Reply:1 stamp should do it. It won't be too heavy. Did you hear about the scam w/ gift cards? People are stealing the #'s and buying online w/ them. Be careful and have the recipient call to find out the balance when he/she receives it.
Reply:When I mail birthday cards I always put 2 stamps just in case.
Reply:Put it in a bottle, and drop it in the ocean. Pick a bottle up off the street, to save even more!!!
Reply:The cost of the postage depends on where you are sending it.

Is it inland or oversea?

Reply:Try making two cards, one that is funny and one that tells your feelings without being too sappy. Little poems are fun to write and can tell about things that you have done together that have special meaning to you. For the funny card, use an experience that maybe has landed you both in trouble or a funny situation.
Reply:why not both..........as long as it's sincere

Reply:I know how you feel. What I do most of the time is just sign it "Hope all your birthday wishes come true" or "Wishing you many more happy %26amp; healthy birthdays". I also go on the internet and find websites with quotes and inspirational sayings. I find one that fits the person or the occassion, and I either copy it and print it out, or I'll handwrite the quote or saying inside the card. It shows that you took the time to personalize it for them. Most people won't expect you to write more than a few words. The fact that you were considerate and thoughtful enough to give them a card on their birthday is more important than what you write inside the card. I've included some websites that I use for this purpose. Good luck and I wish you many more happy and healthy birthdays to come" :)

I couldn't find an exact birthdate but I know he was born in 1978. It's interesting that Card named all of his children after famous authors. How can i learn how to make a hand made birthdays cards without not buying one from the store?

it for my best friend ? her biday is this wednesday i want to make something nice for her. she will be 29 year old.

How can i learn how to make a hand made birthdays cards without not buying one from the store?
Magazines and books from the library. There are plenty on card making.

check out the idea gallery at www.archiversonline.com
Reply:Go to almost any craft or scrapbook store and get the magazine called "Card Creations". It has a LOT of really good birthday card ideas. I make all my own birthday cards and I find that people keep these around longer, where the store-bought ones usually get thrown away almost immediately after reading them.
Reply:I'm not particularily crafty myself so I print up pictures to stick on the front (on photo paper).

There's lots of useful stuff around - magazines, fabric the computer (to print your message in nice font. cut out and stick inside card).

I found one website with lots of gallery pictures. Maybe you can borrow a baby photo of her from her parents to scan and print as the front?

You sound like a caring friend I hope she enjoys her birthday.
Reply:my 6 yr old can make one so i know u can, just go to a craft store and get some ideas from a magazine.

Family birthday DEC and christmas cards?

I have written these out and think it is best ot put 2nd class stamps and send them now..late november in case the post goes on strike...

what do you think?

Family birthday DEC and christmas cards?
I'd think you were being wise! Post is always manic at Christmas anyway and it's better to get something early than not get it at all!
Reply:The recipients deserve First Class. 2nd class (if you can send cards that way) means exactly that. Don't invite problems for yourself.
Reply:Good thinking Batman!!
Reply:Use the regular stamps and mail them on Dec. 1st.
Reply:Good idea send them early to beat the Christmas rush then wait to get theirs to you

What is a good saying to put on a 50th Birthday card? You've got "lordy lordy look whose 40" What's for 50?

I am putting together a 50th birthday party for my husband. The budget is tight. I'm making a huge birthday card for everyone to sign at the party. I need a catchy saying to put on it. Any ideas would be appreciated. Also if you have any other suggestions for a 50 birthday party on a budget let me know. Thanks.

What do I write in the birthday card?

I have a blank card and I want to write something for my grandpa's 86th birthday. Give me suggestions on what to write. I have to mail the card today so it can reach it on time for his birthday.

Give me a poem or something or something inspirational to write.

What do I write in the birthday card?
In nineteen hundred and twenty two

The world aspired because of you

Now in two thousand and eight

we are inspired because of you .

still get his leg over ? the don't teach maths like they used to .
Reply:Happy Birthday Grandad , I 'll have a wee dram for him tonight , well maybe two . Report Abuse

Reply:Your grandpa doesn't want to read a poem. Congrats for buying a blank card so he can read something personal.

What is your favorite memory of your grandpa? Something you did together -- a story he told you that you still remember -- a bookcase he built. Think of something specific that you like or remember about him, and write that.

It will be his best present, honestly.
Reply:Here is a little diddy: Dear Grandad: Another one in the books for us to keep. Just look at all that you've done. What you have sown we will reap, after all you did have fun. We love you more that we did before %26amp; we wish you many, many more. HAPPY BIRTHDAY..........hope you like it.

Where do I get good invitation cards for my son's birthday?

he is going to be 6 years old, so have to find invitation cards and return gifts. please help

Where do I get good invitation cards for my son's birthday?
I got blank cards and paper when my daughter was six...she was only going to have a few friends over...like 5 or 6. I sat her at the table with crayons glue and glitter and she made her own invitations. I also stipulated that all gifts should be no more then $1.00 but that was a while ago. Maybe 2 or 3 now. It was amazing what the kids came with...lacy socks, tiny crayons, new coloring book...

It really isn't about the gifts you know. It is about a bunch of kids getting together to play and eat cake and icecream...

By the way at the same time you can have him make thank you cards too...
Reply:Go to a Party City store or a Hallmart store. They always have cute stuff. You can even go to the dollar store to get gift bags and small toys for the kids if you're on a budget.
Reply:Any retail store would do.

Depends on the theme, if you have a particular theme, toy r us has the most "in" supply of character invitations and b-day supplies on hand. If no paticular theme then check dollar stores for invitations, I got some good ones from there almost three dollars cheaper a pack then the stores like kmart, cvs, riteaid and walmart.

You just have to do some shopping around.
Reply:I got my son's first birthday cards at walmart. They were Winnie The pooh. There are other options too.
Reply:is he getting married?
Reply:i think you should go to walmart.
Reply:Why are you asking us in "weddings"? What are return gifts?
Reply:first of all...why is this in the wedding section?

What could I write that's longer than 1 sentence to personalize a generic business birthday card?

I'm staring at that scary blank white inside of a generic "to be personalized" bithday card. I'm sending it out to all clients/customers/vendors for November, and I want to say something nice and not be too short, but I'm just drawing a blank after every first sentence I come up with. I'm sure I'll come up with something soon, but I thought it'd be a great question to get some fun %26amp; creative responses.

What could I write that's longer than 1 sentence to personalize a generic business birthday card?
I make most of my own cards, invitations, banners and etc. My favorite programs are Creata Card and Hallmark. The following is a copy of a birthday wish that would be suitable for any of your business associates:

You're a very special person --

Much too special to forget,

So any time's the perfect time

To think of you -- and

yet...It's nice to have a chance like this

To really tell you so

With a birthday wish that's warmer

Than you possibly could know.

On the back of ther card ther should be a number call and ask them what to do....

Or return it to the store the person who gave it to you bought it from....

Just be strait up and tell the person u can't use it...

What would you want on your birthday card? Group/artist/ team/?

for an example, i would like to recieve a bon jovi birthday card. The reason i ask is because i am a card crafter, and recently i have been running short of ideas. Any help on Whats popular today would be fantastic thank you.

What would you want on your birthday card? Group/artist/ team/?
As a quilter - nice geometrical patterns. As a knitter - something 'knitty'. As a card maker myself - lovely handmade papers, torn abstract shapes, threads and nice bits. And the occasional pic of Harrison Ford wouldn't come amiss! Happy crafting.
Reply:Blue October!!!!!!!!!!!!! Make sure ya email me if ya ever make cards with this band on them! I'd buy them all!! lol
Reply:That's a very broad question as there are so many tastes out there.

For me, I love anything that is aesthetically done. Beautiful colors and composition. They could be abstract picture - a play of colors and shapes, or figurative.

Maybe you can create a list of themes and then explore each theme. i.e.:

- Music, expands to Rock, Alternative, Classical, Pop, etc.

- Moods, expands to Joy, Love, Grieve, etc.

- Places, expands to pictures of Cities, Countries, etc.

Hope this help :)

Profit made from handmade cards and wedding stationery?

I'm into handmaking birthday cards and am 110% interested in progressing further into my own business. I would like to know how much profit I should consider adding onto the cost of making the card? Also how many weddings do companies like this supply too?

All advice much appreiciated

Profit made from handmade cards and wedding stationery?
Simple answer, 15% margin minimum.

Merchants generally refer to the "Profit margin", or just "margin" on a sale. That is what they keep after all expenses are paid. Here is a hypothetical example: A book is sold for $10. The book cost the merchant $6, and the cost of the store, insurance, utilities, salary for employees, etc related to that one book is $2.75. So the net profit, what the merchant actually gets to keep, is $1.25, which is a 12.5% margin.

You should take the cost of your card stock and determine your cost for one card. Add in some realistic amount for your time (your "pay"), ink, pens, everything involved in making the card and also delivery costs. You might want to do this for a large number, perhaps 50 or 100 to keep the numbers from being very small. You also have to include some factor to account for spoilage and canceled orders.

Then, consider what someone would be willing to pay for a hand made card. And that is the crucial point.

Suppose your total cost for making one card is $2. You find that nobody wants to pay over $2.25 per card. You can price the cards higher but will not sell any. Will you be satisfied with $.25, or 11% margin?

Not worth it for one card, but this can be offset by requiring a minimum order. Printers typically do this. For example, $225 for 100 cards. That way, you will make $25 on each order.

All the above figures are, of course, examples. Personally I would be asking for more because this is an art and takes time. Anything handcrafted should command a premium price. If it takes you 8 hours to do 100 cards, will you be satisfied with the $25 for that work? Probably not.

So, various types of merchants realize different margins on their merchandise. My father ran a hardware store and told me once that if he made 15% at the end of the year he considered that good. I ran a store for several years. The audio equipment was generally priced between 45%-50% gross margin, before expenses, so it is a meaningless figure.

So, how much do you want to make in a year? How many cards do you think you can sell in a year, and what is the gross wholesale (your) cost of the cards and expenses. Add those together and divide by the total cards you expect to sell. Will they sell at that price?
Reply:To get your margin as profit, divide cost by percent. 25% margin: divide by .75. Cost: ₤.65 so: .65/.75 = ₤.86 retail. The difference: ₤.21 is 25% of the sale price thus your margin is 25%. Report Abuse

Reply:You and the rest of the world are doing this, I'm not trying to put you off as such, but be careful and do your research.

I know so many people who make cards so just check that your not already at saturation point in your area. Setting up costs are expensive if you don't use them.

I would add 35% to your costs. Don't forget you will need to declare money to the tax man, but can of set costs of business.
Reply:i'd start off small maybe at craft fairs or to friends and family. then maybe try a few local shops to see if the would sell a small handful of you cards etc if you real enjoy doing these cards etc start your profit off small and then slowly increase it to a healthy profit. this time next year you could be a millionaire good luck maybe even ebay or your own web site?

What encouragement to write on a birthday card for a son who is having problems?

It's my son's birthday tomorrow. He dropped out of university after 2 years (caused by a bad relationship with a girlfriend), did some temporary work whilst waiting to do a course which started this September, but has now failed one of the modules and will be asked to leave the course on his birthday. To get on this last course, he was one of 30 successful applicants from a total of 16,000. He is reliable, doesn't do drugs or drink excessively, and has never been in trouble. What words of encouragement can I write on his birthday card?

What encouragement to write on a birthday card for a son who is having problems?
I think all he would want is reassurance that you love him and are there for him no matter what! Love and acceptance goes a long way. Let him know you have faith in him and his future decisions. I know these things are just as hard on the parents than the child. Their sad feelings tend to be ours too. Good luck and Happy holidays.

My wife (of six months) threw away several cards (birthday, valentines, etc.) that I recently gave her?

As I took the trash out last night, I noticed that there were various greeting cards that she had thrown out. Some from past holidays. Some from siblings. Also in that pile were a few from me (a couple from her birthday, valentines and some simply to say "I love you." My problem with this is she's held on to cards from previous lovers/boyfriends for years (to my knowledge, she still has them). Why throw out my tokens of affection? When I asked her about it, she said she needed "to get rid of some clutter." That's when I damn near exploded, but I kept my cool. What happened to the small things in a marriage? Moving forward, I sense that the cards are meaningless. With Valentines day around the corner, she'll see some flowers, but I don't see another card in her near future.

My wife (of six months) threw away several cards (birthday, valentines, etc.) that I recently gave her?
She may be feeling depressed, distraught, anxious about something. Ok, what did you do? Have you been a naughty boy?
Reply:i throw all my cards too, unless hubby has hand written something sweet inside. but i think she hold onto the cards from the past cuz it is her past and she wants to remember it in some ways. she has you now and doesn't need a card to remember you.
Reply:Okay you are overreacting and reading WAY too much into things. Is a person expected to keep every last scrap of paper you give them?

My husband gives me tons of cards, and I'm grateful for them all, but I don't keep them all. I have two or three out of 7yrs of marriage that I have kept that are particularly funny or meaningful to me.

Concerning her past love affairs cards. I still have one or two of those. They are packed away and the only time I run into them is when I clean out my closet and actually get to the last box on the bottom in the back.
Reply:she should of kept them now thier desroyed i lost lot of my stuff when i moved my deceased husbands army flag and a valentine card and other cards birthday cards i wish i hadn't misplaced them thats all i had of him
Reply:Cards are a waste of money. Why people buy cards are beyond me. Just tell her you love her and get her something special and your be ok. After awhile those cards be nothing. I'm sure you got her tons of them. Why waste all that space when she already knows you care. I am sure she didn't look at those things even once after she seen it the first time. If she through away all your cards and no others then it might be saying something. But the fact is she through away alot of old cards from other family too. I wouldn't look into it anymore than that. Also might want to talk about not buying cards anymore as you could spend that wasted money on something else for her.
Reply:Yeah, don't ever get her another card of any kind for as long as she lives. That sounds like a perfectly mature way of dealing with this situation. Its a good thing you didn't explode, with a thoughtless wife like that, she probably wouldn't even clean up the mess.
Reply:The only plausible reason that I can come up with is that her love with you is 'real' and you are there with her.

The cards that she kept and 'memories' -nothing more, nothing less.
Reply:it time to change what she has been getting in the passed is not her anymore you need to start something new with her my wife did that and i found out that by change thing up from card to rings one year to bears to my wife fav. Dragons that she keep all of them and she now has new memory of us and how we grow together.. Good LUCK
Reply:Ask her.

Don't let you're assumptions hurt you're feelings without cause.

Valentines Day should be everyday in a married person' life. Being married does not work just because you signed the papers. It takes work and it takes it everyday.

Don't be childish about this. It is so very trivial compared to what you deal with everyday being married in the first place.

Nourish the love that brought the two of you together. Nothing that is written on paper can compare to what comes from the heart!
Reply:I can understand her wanting to get rid of clutter. I was always hurt when my mom would throw away cards I had given her and then I realized not everyone keeps everything like I do. However, if she still has the cards from exes I would be worried. Is there a way you can nicely bring that up. Tell her that it bothers you that she kept their cards and not yours. You just have to let her know how you feel. Don't try to read into her feelings at this time just simply state yours. Good luck.
Reply:DUDE, TAKE A CHILL PILL! JUST BECAUSE SHE THREW SOME CARDS OUT, YOU'RE READY TO EXPLODE AND LOSE IT?

YOU READ THEM, TOSS THEM OUT, THAT'S WHAT YOU DO WITH CARDS!
Reply:Cards are a waste of money.
Reply:You should be thankful she is throwing these things out, most chicks keep everything there like pack rats, then they need a bigger house for more storage. If she can throw away these things maybe you can get her to throw some other stuff away, if you know what i mean!
Reply:I don't keep cards either - the only problem I see is if she really does still have stuff from other relationships. She may have some things from you that she kept - it would be rediculous to think she would keep everything you ever gave her.
Reply:I think you need to relax. Your wife is with YOU---not with a previous lover or boyfriend. Those are in the past. Now, if she were cheating, I would see that you would have a real reason to be upset. Hanging on to those cards, just like graduation cards, etc., are just old memories. Fun to look at and reminisce about, but generally nothing more. Personally, I look at cards/photos from old boyfriends and wonder what I ever saw in them.

As for her excuse about decluttering---believe her! I routinely declutter around the house and get rid of stuff. I have my wonderful husband to look at and love every day. Although I have kept some of the cards he has sent me, I don't need to keep every one of them to know that he cares about me or to be reminded of him. Nor do I get all bent out of shape if he tosses a card that I sent him in the past.

What you need to do is to lovingly communicate with your wife. Let her know in a nice way that you felt hurt when you found out that she threw out the cards you gave her. She probably has no idea. I doubt that she was trying to be insensitive in any way.

As for what you do on Valentine's Day, that is of course up to you. But, I would really suggest not playing any childish mind games or engaging in emotional blackmail. Life is too short for that kind of of cr*p.
Reply:Wow! Sounds like she's a real b*tch. And she still has the old bf letters and sh*t? Not cool. Yeah, I'd be pretty pissed off too bro. Just take her to dinner, don't even get her flowers.

Birthday Invitation Cards!?

My baby cousin's birthday is coming up and I wanted to make some invitation cards to help out my aunt. I would appreciate it if you could send me a link to a website which I could make a simple invitation card for free. It doesn't have to be anything too fancy, but I do want to include a picture of my cousin on it. I'm pretty sure the cards will be sent through e-mail and will not have to be printed out. Also if you have any suggestions please share. THANK YOU! (=

Birthday Invitation Cards!?
i am pretty sure there is a web site called like E-vite or something.. you could try that..

How could I make a birthday card that is a puzzle to open?

I'm thinking of something like a paper folding puzzle, and the only way to see the message inside is to figure out a way to open the puzzle. How can I do this at home?

How could I make a birthday card that is a puzzle to open?
If you can't come up with a real paper folding puzzle, you can fake it pretty easily. "Wrap" the card in several envelopes or layers of paper. One buttons shut, another is taped or tied, another has tabs that must be pulled out to get to the next layer, etc. Have a blast designing this. It had better be a darned nice birthday card, of course -- or have a gift card in it, too -- once the recipient gets through all the layers. If it's a hit, someone will make one for you, too, so watch out!

This is also a good idea for wrapping a small gift.
Reply:On the back too?? Oh, that's just cruel. :)
Reply:You could always have a card open to the left instead of the right.
Reply:Well, I'm not quite sure how to do that. B ut if you live near an AC Moores or Michaels, or any other craft store, you can purchase blank card size puzzles that you can write on when put together, then jumble the pieces and mail in and enevelope. For added fun, write something on the back, too!!
Reply:Go to jigzone.com. You can make a puzzle on there. It's a great site.

What is the best program for making a birthday card?

I have Printmaster, but I dont like how I have to fold it in fours. What programs can I use that are a free download?

I have Photobie, GIMP, Paint, and Printmaster.

I tried using Paint, but I don't know how to size it to fit a piece of paper.

Can I use one of the other programs I have? If so, how?

ANY help is appreciated!

What is the best program for making a birthday card?
Well, if it dosen't have to be fancy you can try doing it by hand, the best cards I have ever made have been by hand.

It may sound messy, but if you get creative and know your way around sissors and markers, then you'll be fine.

If you computerize it, it won't seem as you tried to do it from the heart, and it might not come out as well becuase you don't know how to use the program effectively.
Reply:Well, microsoft publisher is most likely the best to actully make a birthday card. But you can get something off the internet in paper size and maybe edit it a bit, because that would probably the best and easiest way.
Reply:Hallmark. lol.

u kno, with printmaster u can make the card fold in half 2. choose that instead of fourths

How long should you hold on to a birthday card before throwing it away?

I'm not one to hold on to things as keepsakes, but when someone sends me a card, I feel I HAVE to keep it for awhile. I'm sure if you were a scrapbooker, you'd hold on to it for eternity. How long should I be obligated to keep it before throwing it away and still have a clean conscience?

How long should you hold on to a birthday card before throwing it away?
I think we all have to be more selective, or our houses will end up overflowing with cards! :) What's important is the sentiment behind the card, not the card itself. As long as you remember the person and what they mean to you, a piece of paper isn't that important.

What I do is, if the card has a really great personal message written on it, makes me really happy, or commemorates something really special (e.g., that long-sought-after promotion, birth of a child), then I keep it. If it's just for Christmas or a routine birthday card, I chuck it after reading and enjoying the card. I do make a note to myself to send a card to that person on their birthday, but I don't feel the need to hang on to a piece of paper forever. I do the throwing away right away, so I don't end up building up a big mess.
Reply:I don't throw mine away either. It's a reminder of the people who care for me. Sometimes I go back and look at them, most times I don't though. But I think that ultimately it's your decision. If you don't want to keep, what are the chances that the person who sent it to you is ever going to know?

I would keep it for a month or so, but after that, trash it.
Reply:I keep all of mine that are from my family and loved ones.
Reply:I try to keep it forever..
Reply:I hang on to family cards...from my daughter especially. I also hang on to those tear jerking hallmarks from family and friends..all the rest go to trash can after I take them down from my mantle where I display them for a week.
Reply:ive thrown mine away the same day i got it.
Reply:i try to preserve it forever! only when there is sun, u will realize the importance of shade...small things in life has to b appreciated though they might not b of any monetary benefit. u wil realize the imprtance of it only when a person who had sent u card earlier fails to send one this time!! there is no obligation for u to keep it for a specific period of time or forever, but u should do it willingly and not bcos they have been sent by ur wellwishers.
Reply:I never threw away mine but if you don't care for it that much you should just keep it in a box.
Reply:I usually keep mine for about a week. I'll keep cards that might have new addresses or phone numbers and cards from VERY special people.

But then, after a while (spring cleaning) they end up in the pal anyway. It's all in what you feel comfortable with and if the person who's card you're debating about throwing away will get offended, keep it... put it away, then it might turn into an out of sight out of mind thing. I guess it's all in your comfort level.
Reply:How can you ever think of throwing a card .Rem it was gifted out of love n care by tht person to u:) You urself can preserve ur memories avour them :) its not everyday in our life tht we recieve the blessings of others:)
Reply:it depends who give it to me
Reply:My answer is never. That card is too show how much that person cares about you, if you throw it out youreally did care as much or for that person as that person does for you!

How do you feel about greeting cards?

For birthdays and holidays and such? I rarely buy them for people. The only exception is Christmas cards. The reason being is that they are usually sappy rhetoric that people just slap their name at the bottom and underline a couple key words. They are meaningless. Especially for young children. I mean they can't even read yet but everyone always buys them birthday cards! Why?

Then I have the task of deciding when is the appropriate time to throw them away. There is no personal sentiment or attachment but I feel guilty throwing them away as soon as I read them.

This sounds like a bunch of sour grapes and I really don't waste that much of my energy on the matter but still.... can anyone tell me what the deal is with greeting cards? I just don't get it, except that they are a convenient replacement for a more personal, yet time consuming, hand written note.

How do you feel about greeting cards?
I think you've hit the nail on the head. Some cards, if you spend the time to search for ther right one, can be meaninful, especially if you add your own personal note inside. But for the most part I find them a waste of time and paper too. For christmas, I usually just get those little stick on cards that say "To" and "From" on them and keep it at that. For the people really close to me, i'll either make a card or buy one and write a nice note inside.

For birthdays etc I have stopped doing that unless it's somebody I am close to. Personally, I just throw out every card I get right after the person leaves, unless it's a meaningful card from someone close to me. I used to save them, but then the pile got so big and for no reason. What am I to do with them?? They eventually get thrown out anyways, so I figure better sooner than later and save myself the mess.
Reply:You are absolutely right. I don't like sending cards to kids under 14. Cards are expensive and I don't see why people won't send e-cards more. E-cards are not that impersonal and they are free. The receiver can keep them for a few months and don't have to feel guilty thrashing them unlike the physical one.
Reply:I love them! They are a cheap and simple way to let people know you are thinking of them, that you care. Unlike a text or a phone call, they can keep it up for as long as they want. Many of them are really beautiful, and you can always buy blank cards so you can write your own message (that's what I do). Cards that people gave me as a child, my parents put them away until I was old enough to read them.

So what do you do instead? Do you send people a time-consuming personal handwritten note, or do you just ignore them on their birthdays, anniversaries and special days?
Reply:Sometimes, i get like A hundred "just Because Cards" and pick a random person out of the phone book, and send them all to that person.
Reply:Greeting cards mean so very much to me. I send greeting cards all the time and look for a long time to get the right verse to certain people. Sometimes you can't visit that person, so a card means you are thinking of them. If people take the time to send a card, I display them on my wall.
Reply:I buy Birthday and Christmas cards. My parents appreciate it because I try to look for a card that best describes our relationship and they really like that. I have brothers who will go out and pick up the first card they see which does not describe their relationship at all. You can tell there is no thought behind their choice.

Little children starting around, probably the age of 4, really start to appreciate the cards. My daughter received an Easter card this year and she looks at it over and over again.
Reply:huge waste of money unless the card really says something.. i just hate getting cards that say nothing of importance..
Reply:Waste of money
Reply:The price has gone up to buy greeting cards. :( But to answer your question...

I think greeting cards have the right words to say when it comes to someone celebrating their 5th birthday, who lost a parent or grandparent, or recovering from an illness. After all, I couldn't have said those messages any better myself They have meaningful poetry/phrases and illustrations.

It's perfectly fine not to give a greeting card. After all, after it has been read, will it be saved or tossed?
Reply:I adore greeting cards, and anyone who knows me knows that I take a great deal of time choosing just the right card for any occasion. I'm sorry you feel that they are full of sap and sentiment, but I guess you're just not a "Kodak moment" kind of person; I am.

The words written on the cards I select are usually the same "meaningless" stuff you're talking about, but they are the way I feel about my loved ones. I truly do feel they give me support, strength, guidance, and unending love, and for that, I am always going to be very thankful. I guess my love is what you would call "sappy." I'm glad my loved ones don't think the same way as you.

And when I underline those key words at the bottom or somewhere in the text, I'm giving them extra emphasis. I am not inviting the recipient to ignore the rest of the card.
Reply:It is a small inexpensive way of saying i;m thinking of you. That's all.
Reply:I personally think they're a waste of money. If I know someone will really really appreciate one, I'll buy them one. But I never feel obligated to buy them for people.
Reply:well me, i buy them, and when its time to sign them, i just add a whole new greeting card of something that i want to say..

When my father divorces his soon to be ex. Will she keep sending me birthday card and christmas cards?

I hope not but she is a person who loves to find out info on other family members. I promised my father I wouldn't tell her Jacks***. If she asks I don't tell. I am worried about what she'll do with a car and will she harrass me and my mother. I and her have never gotten along and she and my father have been married/dating for almost 15 yrs and now he sees the light of getting rid of her a**.

When my father divorces his soon to be ex. Will she keep sending me birthday card and christmas cards?
if shoe does and you feel like that about her you could always send them back unopened!
Reply:It's dependent on your relationship with her .... some of those relationships last forever ... some not ...
Reply:Maybe / maybe not .....depends on how good your relationship was .
Reply:probally she will
Reply:You know she might not send you nothing for christmas of birthdays, she and her family moved on and that you and dad are history in her life.
